We are always looking for Purchasing and Procurement professionals employed by Government Agencies, Colleges, Universities and Schools, to join our New York City Chapter of the National Institute for Public Procurement.(NIGP)

How Can You Join?

To join we need a completed application and annual membership dues of $40. for the first year. Please contact us for more information and a copy of the application.

EXERPT FROM NYC COMPTROLLERS DIRECTIVE NO. 6 :

11.0 MEMBERSHIPS IN PROFESSIONAL AND TRADE ORGANIZATIONS

Agencies can benefit from employees who are members of professional or trade organizations. Such memberships can provide agencies with relevant literature and journals, reference material, notice of current developments, access to libraries and databases, access to important events, and a variety of other benefits. An agency may, at its discretion, pay for the membership or organizational dues of a limited number of representatives from among its employees in a particular profession or trade. Agencies must obtain government discounts where available, and must restrict payment for such memberships to the employees for whom it is most essential to support official agency business. If payment is for more than one employee, agencies must explore group memberships which are offered by many organizations. Such expenditures must be authorized by an appropriately responsible manager determined by the agency.


Who Can Join?

We invite all active and retired Government procurement and purchasing professionals to join our NIGP Chapter.   Members are encouraged to serve on at least one chapter committee.  Chapter officers must be able to dedicate enough time to participate and make a difference in the organization. Our Chapter also serves Governmental Procurement employees from Northern N.J., and Southern Connecticut. 

Benefits of Joining

There are many benefits to becoming a member of our organization. Our members network at bi-monthly meetings and become close professional friends.  We have a great time when we get together at events such as our annual holiday dinner.  Of course, like other NIGP Chapters we also share a common interest, and we hope to further NIGP's causes and personally develop every members knowledge and skills and potential.
